Burtis Named MVP, 6 Bears Earn All-League Honors

Senior LHP/OF/1B Neal Burtis has been officially named as the Player of the Year for 4A NPSL. The Oregon State commit was dominant both on the mound and at the plate in league play in 2026.

In league-play, Burtis had a .375 average, .561 on-base percentage, and a .600 slugging percentage with 6 extra base hits (4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run). He totaled 15 hits, 7 runs batted in, 22 runs scored, 10 walks to just 6 strikeouts, and stole 11 bases.

On the mound, he was even more dominant. Burtis tallied 31.1 innings pitcher, went a perfect 6-0, allowed just 17 total hits and 2 earned runs (3 runs total), while walking only 15 and striking out 53. He finished league play with a 0.45 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and opposing batters hit just .159 against him.

Burtis is the 7th Bear to be named League MVP, joining Carson Ohland (2023), Logan Pierce (2021), Mason Fritsch (2019), Nick Dazell (2018), John Bodenhamer (2012), Chris Managon (2009), and Kyle Conwell (2008).

Joining Burtis as All-League first teamers are SS/P Beckett Turnbow and OF/INF Grayson Turnbow.

Beckett ended league play hitting .432/.556/.811 with 16 hits, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 19 RBI, 17 R, 14 BB, 11 K, and 12 SB. Beckett also contributed 3.2 lockdown innings on the mound, picking up 2 saves, allowing just 1 hit and 1 earned run, while walking 5, and striking out 8 for a 1.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and an .077 batting average against.

Grayson hit .429/.574/.771 in league with 15 hits, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 11 RBI, 21 R, 8 BB, 9 K, as 12 SB.

The Bears also had four players named second team all-leaguers: DH/3B Anthony Wagner, OF/P Sean Evans, and P Talon Coker.

Wagner hit .364/.517/.409 in league play with 8 hits, 1 double, 3 RBI, 5 R, 4 BB, 5 K, and stole 1 base.

Evans hit .344/.382/.563 with 11 hits, 1 double, 3 triples, 9 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB, 8 K, and 1 SB. Evans also threw 15 IP in league, going 2-1, allowing 12 hits, 5 ER, 4 BB, and 19 K for a 2.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a .222 BAA.

Coker was nearly flawless in league, throwing 23 innings for a 3-0 record, allowing just 12 hits, 1 ER, 6 BB, and 30 K for a 0.30 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and a .152 batting average against.
